If you are searching for a qualified implant dentist in the Brazosport area, All Smiles may be just the dental clinic for you. Are you unfamiliar with dental implants? Our experienced doctors, Dr. Norris , Dr. Spencer , and Dr. Vernor  can all help you understand the dental implant procedure. Here at All Smiles Family Dentistry, we like to prepare you for the unknowns.

What Implants Can Mean for Your Teeth

Dental implants can preserve the health and longevity of your smile. If you’ve had numerous tooth extractions, this can alter your smile for the worse. Teeth are more solid when they are positioned against other teeth. When teeth are removed, shifting of other teeth into the gaps may occur. This can actually cause your facial structure to change.

When stress caused by chewing is equally distributed across your teeth, your mouth is less vulnerable to wear and decay. Without dental implants to replace your missing teeth, your other teeth can deteriorate rapidly. At All Smiles, our preventative dental implant procedures can strengthen your remaining teeth and beautify your smile.

What to Expect Before the Final Dental Implant Procedure

Our All Smiles doctors ensure you have the best experience possible with dental implants. To prepare your mouth for dental implants, we implement a process that can take a while to complete. Below is a list of steps we take to prepare your mouth for implants:

  1. We first take X-rays of your mouth, then our dental professionals perform a thorough examination.
  2. Inform our doctors of any medications or supplements you take. We then come up with a treatment plan specialized to fit your needs.
  3. After you are given the okay by our skilled doctors, we implant a specific size and type of implant in place of the missing tooth. This type allows the process of bone tissue growth (also known as osseointegration) and provides support to your permanent replacement tooth or teeth.

The overall process can take anywhere from three to six months. Every mouth is unique!

What to Expect After Dental Implant Surgery

After the healing process around the implant is complete, we schedule a separate visit to install the actual replacement tooth. Call us if you experience gum or face swelling, bleeding, or pain where the implant occurred. Make a return visit to the dentist if symptoms persist.
